Good morning everyone and welcome to this Bible study from the Netherlands. We will start first with the English Bible study and then we will go to the Netherlands. Today we are going to speak about Acts chapter 2.

This video to text by chat-GPT. Now you can follow the video by just reading the text.

I call it Grace teaching part 2 because it is important to understand what is grace teaching. I had a privilege to know the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior for the first time in 1979. I have a Jewish background and it is a privilege that I met some people long ago and they were willing to share with me the gospel of the grace of God. They were willing to share with me that the Lord Jesus Christ is God. This is for many people very controversial. When you say Christ is God, there are many Bible studies about the deity of Christ.

obtained a more excellent name than they.

3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrew 1:3

Yes the name JESUS in Hebrew means God save. So for me It is God who saved me on the cross. 2 Corinthians 5:19 “To wit, that God was in Christ….

There many studies on the internet about the God head of our Lord Jesus Christ so i am not going to talk about it today. I can only say that many today have problem with the doctrine of Christ being God. When I talk to charismatics people. I always ask do you believe that Jesus is our God? Some say NO only the son of God. Some say:  1 Timothy 2:5 …the man Christ Jesus;” . You are free to believe what you want. I believe Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus…. Not confessing your sins. Not confessing in a church building. Just believing that. He is the Lord.

God will have all men to be saved. Christ Jesus is the one and only Mediator between God and men. Christ Jesus gave Himself a ransom for all. “To be testified in due time.” To the Apostle Paul was committed this truth for Gentiles.  I Timothy 1:11; “According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.” “Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on Him to life everlasting.” I Timothy 1:16.

You see if you want to be strong in the doctrine that teach that Christ is our God! Start learning more about the gospel of Gods grace. Many are just talking about Christ earthly ministry and there fore do not understand the doctrine about Christ being our Lord God.

During the years that Christ Jesus was on earth He was Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God by miracles, in the midst of Israel. Acts 2:22. Just before the Lord Jesus went to the cross He said “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me. This He said, signifying what death He should die.” John 12:31 to 33. Some years after the Lord Jesus died on the cross and went back to heaven, these messages were written to the Lord’s people concerning the once-for-all sacrifice of the Son of God

“But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” Hebrews 2:9.

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” Hebrews 9:12.

“But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.” Hebrews 10:12.

“And having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” Colossians 1:20.

“And He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2.

This message of grace was sent out to all men, Gentiles as well as Jews: “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.” Titus 2:11.

“But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:4 to 7.

Note Paul’s testimony written about 65 A.D., more than thirty years after the Lord Jesus, by the grace of God, tasteth death for every man:

“For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world.” Colossians 1:5 and 6.

“The gospel which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister.” Colossians 1:23.

The gospel of Gods grace. the gospel that says you are a sinner as a Jew. You are a sinner. And Jesus from Nazareth, God himself on the cross died for your sins and rose again for your justification. Think about it. If you have a Bible background, if you understand that the Bible is the word of God,

if you read the Old Testament, if you read the New Testament, think about it. When I tell you that the gospel of God is about eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, for many people it's kind of a secret. They don't understand it.

I am adding some more information to the video text version but now let start with our subject.

a prayer.

Let's start with a prayer. Heavenly Father, we want to thank you for this day of grace. Heavenly Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, thank you that in your love and grace you came to this world and you died for our sins on the cross and you rose again for our justification. Thank you Father for this day. Everything in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.

I can say I believe fully in the gospel of the grace of God. You know, if you want to go with me before we start to Romans chapter 1, we can read some very important verse. Romans chapter 1 verse 16 where Paul says,

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believe, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. The main point is that Paul says, I'm not ashamed. I'm not ashamed. In the year 2023 to tell you that the gospel of God is the power unto salvation.

I may not understand everything, I will not be able to comprehend everything, but when you look around us there is a war, there is a lot of battle, even in Israel, outside Israel. But I believe this gospel. I'm not able to share it with everyone. And even in the last 40 years I did my best to share it with everyone, it doesn't say that everyone accepted it.

I see myself as an ambassador of the Lord Jesus Christ and I'm not ashamed. I remember the first day when I learned about that Christ is God and he died for me on the cross, that I was ashamed. Why? Why shame? You can see today, many people like to speak about the love of God.

John 3 verse 16, so have God loved the world. They like to point only about the love of God. But it's not just like this, it is a love of God for a sinner. And today most people believe in the goodness of people. You know, it's so good, it's so lovely, it's so great. So when you speak or you start to speak about gospel that wants to save you in our environment, in our way of thinking,

it's already aggressive, you are aggressive. I mean, I hear a lot of stories, but there are a lot of churches today. I heard here in the Netherlands, some of them are even not evangelizing, they will offer you a prayer. You know, can I pray for you?

You know, it sounds much more positive when you say to a person, do you have for me something to pray for it? So I will pray for you, or you say to someone, God in his love died for your sin, rose again for your justification, and then you can get the gift of eternal life and not condemned for eternity.

This is different gospel. Okay, so I was privileged to hear this gospel of the grace of God, and I believe it. I am not ashamed.

In the beginning, you know, he says here also in verse 17, he explained why he's not ashamed. You see, you are not ashamed at the moment that you understand the gospel, you need some knowledge. the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith as it is written that just shall live by faith. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

So I'm not ashamed. In the beginning, I must tell you the truth, I didn't understand the gospel fully. I was not able to explain other about genesis chapter 1 the creation.

I came to know the Lord as my savior in Israel. When you are in Israel, you hear a lot of what we say messianic teaching. That Jesus is the messiah but to believe in His death on the cross is something different. Jews have much problems with the cross.

And when you are into the messianic teaching at that time, it was mostly about if Christ was the Messiah or not, because most Israelis are not recognizing Jesus at all. Those days it is much different. 40 years ago it was much different, my parents were a generation from the Holocaust. 40 years ago to speak about Jesus was like a curse. So I trusted the Lord, but in my knowledge I was a chilled ashamed to tell it  to people.

yes, I believe that Jesus is God. Yes, I believe that God created heaven and earth in seven days. You need courage, you need knowledge, let's say. So I'm not ashamed, because now I  understand it is the  only power to save people. regardless the fact that maybe most people on this earth at the moment never heard about the pure gospel. They mix  grace with works, or they never heard it at all.

Many Muslims are turning into Christ. You hear it very often, even now at the moment when there is a war in Israel, you hear Muslims turning to Christ because they had some vision or saw Christ in dreams. It's a common way of saying, well, you are not turning to Christ because there is a vision or dream. You are turning to Christ because you understand it can save you. Easy to say, hard to do, because you need education, you need the knowledge.

Look at the life of our apostle Paul! he spent sometimes a year, months with the people to teach them the fundamental of faith. That's why we have to teach our children about it. So they will grow and believe it too

Okay, so today in our Grace Teaching Part 2, I want to speak to you about Acts Chapter 2. I made some summarizing. I realized that there is no point for me to read verse to verse. I am getting older. Reading English, dutch and Hebrew get complicated.

we're living also in online time. I'm looking for all kinds of methods to translate my speech or to convert my speech into writing. So I will talk and you can read it also. It is never about the face of the preacher. Paul was also preaching by writing. So I don't have to go through all the verses because you have the Bible and if you don't have the Bible, you need to get one, you need to read it. In English, I use the King James Version of the Bible. In Hebrew, it will be the authorized version. In Dutch, it will be also the authorized version.

I do my best to present to you a good Gospel of Grace. So let's speak about the day of Pentecost, Acts Chapter 2.

I must tell you, I don't have a Christian background. Why I'm telling you? Because right from the beginning, I came to know the Lord from people who at that time understood the Gospel of the Grace of God rightly dividing. In 1981 I started to Studie about the gospel of Gods grace with the help of C.R. Stam books and others . People who understood that Christ from heaven gave to Paul the dispensation of grace.

I was never into this discussion that the present church started at Acts 2. It is for me also a little bit a strange way of thinking. I learned right from the beginning that everything what we know today, the dispensation of the grace of God started with the Apostle Paul, with Acts 9 at the moment that Paul was saved.

15But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: 16For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. Acts 9

The problem that even among those who call themselves Grace Teaching Believer, everyone tried to point with his fingers on the exact point, in which you cannot do it. You can only go back to Paul's letters, read the verses where Paul says, follow me, and that Paul says, I receive the dispensation of the grace of God. Ephesians chapter 3

There is one very famous verse, I always say to people, read Acts 9 verse 15. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way, for he is a chosen vessel unto me. To bear my name before the Gentiles, the kings, and the children of Israel. This is one of the important verses to show you what the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven told directly to Paul. If you want to see the teaching, to learn the teaching, go to his letter

Okay, so now when you understand it let us  go back to Acts chapter 2.

Acts chapter 2, and when the day of Pentecost was fully come, Acts chapter 2 verse 1.

I cannot explain to you why people teaching that Acts chapter 2 is the beginning of the church. I cannot explain it, I can only explain to you, as far as I understand, that on this earth, people are into many traditions of people teaching. Even the so-called Christianity is divided in many denominations teaching doctrine. I'm happy with what I believe, and I believe this is the truth.

When you go back to Acts chapter 2, you read about the day of Pentecost. the feast of harvest. In Judaism it is also the day that the law was given to Israel. It is 50 days, 7 weeks after Passover. There are many studies about it, and the beginning of everything is Passover.

Leviticus 23:15-21 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

So in the day of Pentecost, what they are doing, they are coming together, observing the law of Moses. So how can people say that it has to do with the dispensation of the grace of God? What they are doing, they are observing what God said to Moses for the nation Israel.

Three times in a year, they will come together at the temple. And now God is going to use it for his purpose to tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Old Testament, Exodus 34-22, and ye shall observe the feast of the weeks. You know, when I was a child in Israel, the day of Pentecost, was a very nice feast. I was living in a farm and we had to decorate all the trekkers to build nice trekkers with all the fruits that we had And to show it to the people. So it's a very nice agriculture feast. But it's part of the law of Moses.

Deuteronomy 16:9-12 “Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn.”

so again, our study is about the day of Pentecost. You need to read it for yourself. I'm not doing a preaching about it because on our sites there are many books about it. I mean brothers C.R Stem wrote a commentary on the book of Acts. I will recommend everyone to read it.

It will give you some insight in the book of Acts because the book of Acts is very important. The book of Acts shows you the changing in God's program. First, it's about the Kingdom on Earth, the day of Pentecost, Israel, Jews, and then it's turned to the Apostle Paul. Chapter 9 and the dispensation of the grace of God, the revelation of the mystery.

so let us go back to our question. How can people think or come to the conclusion that Pentecost should be the beginning of the Church?

Because it says in verse 5, in Acts 2 verse 5, and there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews. It's about verses 5 till 11.

Acts 2:10 …. and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,” dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, because it's a Jewish feast. It's a Jewish observation. It's an observation that Moses received from God for the nation Israel, not for the body of Christ. You need to understand that those devout people, it says, out of every nation under heaven. Those devout people coming from every nation under heaven at that time. They were Jews.

After Babel exile not all of them return to the land of Israel. We speak about the Jews religion with synagogues everywhere. North Africa, Asia, Turkey, and it goes to the deep of Persia,

So those Jews, I mean, he's not speaking about Gentiles, coming from all over the places, from the world to Jerusalem, for observation, for doing things from the low of Moses.

Acts 2:10 …. and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

This is one of the verses that make people think that it is about the body of Christ. Strangers of Rome. There were Romans who were worshipping idols, you know, like the Romans or the Greek mythology. And they were interesting in the law or in the God of Israel. Today it is not so strange for us, because you have millions on this earth, like the so-called Christian world, Jews and Muslims. They all have the belief in one God, the call it Monotheism is the belief in a single god. At that time only the Jews believed in one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

They were surrounded with idol worshippers. So there were Gentiles, like he says, strangers of Rome. In Acts chapter 13, when Paul visited the synagogue, we see that at that time there were also Gentiles at the synagogue. People who were interesting in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

42And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. 43Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. Acts 13

Then he said Jews and proselytes

Proselytes of Righteousness were Gentiles who desired to become Jews. They were circumcised and submitted to all the ordinances of the Mosaic Law according to Ex. 12:48,49. In Acts 2:5, Luke makes reference to Jews who were dwelling at Jerusalem during the Pentecost observance.

However you see, it's not about the body of Christ. You have the day of Pentecost, you have everyone come together. I mean, we read, like in verse 4,

Acts 2:4 “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

So there was there at that time something very special, something unusual, like we say. Something unnatural, something unnatural. Then we are going to verse 16

Acts 2:16 “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;” Peter stands there, and you have to understand Peter, one of the 12 apostles. He was the head, according to what Christ told him. He gave him the key, because we have the 12 apostles and Peter. Read Matthew 16:19 “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:

We have the one apostle Paul, and we have the confusion, like we see in the Romans Catholic Church. They teach that Peter was in Rome, but according to the Bible, the one who wrote the letter to the Romans is Paul.

However, Peter stand and he explained them. You see it was the beginning of the fulfilling of the prophecy of Joel. This is the answer. Everyone was waiting to the coming of the Messiah. Everyone, I mean, at that time they had a lot of problems with the Romans. The Jews were called by the Romans “Philistines” . They were rebelling against the Romans authority.

When you are into rebellion like the Jews in Judea were at that time you start to develop a Messianic feelings. This was happened till the destruction of the temple in the year 70, the Roman legions in Jerusalem smashed through the fortress tower of Antonia into the Holy Temple and set it afire. Then we also have  The Bar Kokhba revolt. rebellion initiated by the Jews of Judea, led by Simon bar Kokhba, against the Roman Empire in 132 CE. Lasting until 136, it was the third and final escalation of the Jewish–Roman wars. Remember that in the Bible terms it is already the dispensation of grace.

When you look to Israel in 2023 now 2024 , the nation of Israel at that moment is not in good situation. There is a war. There is a different political situation. There is the world who is against. Even in Israel, there is no unity because on the one hand you have the secular Jew who want to be like everyone, like the nations. And on the other hand, there are those religion Jews, the Orthodox or the Zionist Jews who want to have a Jewish state. They call them the Messianic. Those who believe in the coming of the Messiah, those who believe in the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem.

From a Bible perspective, we can understand it because this is really a kind of spiritual war. Not our war, but it is a spiritual war. When you are a citizen of certain country and you have to obey the authorities.  It became also your ware. The members of the Hamas religion liberation movement are also looking to occupy  Jerusalem.

So here, about 2,000 years ago, Peter is talking about the day that the Lord will come back to earth.

We read it already in Acts chapter 1. When Christ told them, what are you looking for? The same Christ that was ascended, he will come back. Where? In Jerusalem. They will see him, they will recognize him.

Zechariah 12:10 “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”

Hebrews 4:9  “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”

So Peter standing up and he explained to them this unusual happening, this unnatural. They are not drank. It is the very first step in the prophecy of Joel. You understand? In verse 20, the sun shall be turned into darkness. It should be fulfilled and the moon into blood before that great and notable day of the Lord come.

I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will come back again. The only thing is that there is a difference between the coming of the Lord back to this earth to establish his kingdom. You know, he will come back to Jerusalem. Or the coming of the Lord for the church, his body, to take them to be with him in the cloud. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”

However, at the day of Pentecost, he is talking about the coming of the Lord for Israel to establish his thousand year kingdom.

In verse 21, he tells them, and it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. So there is something historically going on. They see unnatural things. They think that those people were drinking something.

Peter received the gospel to the circumcision. He received the gospel of the kingdom. And he tells them about salvation. He tells them about “shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved . In Hebrew, Yeshua, Jesus means God saved. for many people, Jesus means just kind a name. In Hebrew, it has a meaning, God saved.

So when you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, it is in order to be saved. It is in order to turn from death to life. It seems that salvation for people is very important. Look around you. Everyone is talking about eternal life. Jews, Muslims, everyone have in his doctrine system kind of work system that you need to climb yourself to God. While when you come to the Bible, the Old Testament, New Testament, you understand that you cannot climb your way to God, but he came to you. The only thing you can do is to believe the gospel.

Peter telling them the following :  “…..call on the name of the Lord shall be saved”. and have taken and by wicked hand have crucified. Read acts 2: 21 till 28 . Peter explained them the crucifixion. He explained them that when King David is talking, he is not talking about himself, but he is talking about prophecy, about the Lord Jesus Christ. This is important. First Peter tells them about the historically side of the crucifixion.

Today, unfortunately, the crucifixion belongs to Christian heritage, to Christian history. And sometimes, not to a nice one, like the crusaders and killing other people in the name of the church, what happened in Spain. The Inquisition. had its start in the 12th-century Kingdom of France, with the aim of combating religious deviation

So today, when you speak with people about crucifixion, it goes along with a very long history. They were just in the beginning. Now, when you go further to verse 29, in verse 32, this Jesus has God raised up. Peter explained, dividing two parts. First of all, the crucifixion. And secondly, the resurrection.

For us today, I mean, when you look back, you will find that many people understand only the historical part of it. Many so-called Christian people will tell you, yes, I know he was crucified and he was resurrected. It is part of their education or tradition. For us, it goes further, because we understand that when he was crucified, he was crucified for your sin. And when he was resurrected, he was resurrected for your justification.

Peter explained to them. He explained the crucifixion, he explained the resurrection. After they hear it, verse 37, they say, what shall we do? And when you read it, then you start to ask yourself, how can people believe that Peter is talking about the body of Christ ? or the beginning of the body of Christ,

while when you read it, it's all about a different gospel, the gospel of the Kingdom, the gospel to the circumcision. And in verse 37, 38, they're asking him, what shall we do? The answer is very simple, repent and be baptized. And every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sin, and he shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I suggest you, because I'm not going to explain fully, I suggest you take time and read Brother Cornelius' commentary on Acts chapter 2. He will explain to you.

The only thing that I'm explaining to people is, it is the gospel, repent and be baptized, for the remission of sin.

We will close with the word of Paul, where Paul said to you, you have the remission of sin, or the next time we will deal with it,

Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

after Peter was talking, then you see those people, there were about 3,000 souls adding to the church, by believing what Peter told them, and being baptized with water. It's a fully gospel in accordance with what Christ was teaching them on earth.

Now we are  going to talk about acts 2: verses 42-47.

42And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

44And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

This how they were living after Peter told them the gospel. Most of those who teach that the church started in in act 2 are not living today in this way.  All the believers were together and had all things common. they continue in their life, which was the doctrine of the apostles, not the doctrine of grace, a fellowship and breaking bread.

We will talk about it, breaking bread is not breaking bread or the bread and wine, like the apostle Paul received from the Lord in 1 Corinthians. Chapter 10-11

they shared everything, they sold everything. They were eating together. It was not about building, it was not about organization. it was not a Sunday service.

This is what I want to share with you, because we are talking about grace teaching, and in grace teaching I can suggest you one thing, you need to read the Bible. I say grace teaching, I can teach you, it's not about teaching, it's about over learning, and learning means read the Bible. Take in consideration what I told you. Like I said on our web site you will find Brother Cornelius Stam commentary on the book of acts. it can be very helpful.

I want to close you with one word, remember. The Gospel of our salvation is very simple. We say to people, Christ is God, and Christ on the cross died for your sins, and rose again for your righteousness, your salvation. All what you need to do is to believe. Here in the Netherlands we use the word to believe, to take God in His words.

Shall we close in prayer?

Heavenly Father, thank you very much for this day of grace. Heavenly Father, thank you very much for everything what you did for us on the cross, that you came to this earth, you died for our sins, and rose again for our justification. I pray that  many people in my own country in Israel or outside Israel if it's possible will open the Bible and understand that if there is any place for peace on this earth, it's only by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Download PDF THEY WHO ARE ISRAELITES (Romans, Chapter 9) When I look back on my life, I see a path that was not accidental. I was born in the land of Israel in 1957. The very fact that my parents brought me into the world is a foundational starting point, but no less important are the childhood years I was granted in this land its soil, its language, and the atmosphere in which I grew up. And yet, the true turning point in my life was not in my childhood, but years later. In 1979, I heard for the first time consciously and clearly about the love of God and His grace, grace revealed through our Lord Jesus Christ. It was not a philosophical idea or a passing emotional experience, but an encounter with a gospel. Thus I was saved. In 1980, something additional was opened to me: an understanding of what the apostle Paul describes as “the mystery” something kept in earlier generations, but revealed in this time. When I read his words, I understood that I was not facing another religious tradition, but a new divine administration of grace: Ephesians 3:3–5 (KJV) “How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;” That mystery was clear: the Gentiles and the Jews together are now called to the same inheritance, to the same body, and to the same promise in Christ Jesus by the gospel. At this stage I also understood the simplicity of faith, as Paul writes to the Romans: there is no demand for works, tradition, or past merits, but a call only to faith: Romans 10:9 (KJV) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” So I believed not out of pressure, not in search of a new identity, but out of recognition that this is the truth. That faith rested on the heart of the gospel itself, as Paul reminds the Corinthians: that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, all according to what was written beforehand. Not a symbol, not a parable, but a historical act with eternal meaning. I believe that Jesus is the Lord. I believe that He is God manifested in flesh, entered into human history, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead for our justification. This is the same truth that begins already with the first man, when sin and death entered the world, but reaches its fulfillment in Christ the second man who brings life and righteousness. This is the gospel I heard. This is the gospel I believed. And this is the gospel I believe to this day. From that moment of faith, I learned to understand what also happened to me spiritually: the Holy Spirit baptized me into unity with Christ and placed me into one body the body of Christ. Not by a ritual, but by an inward divine act. Yes, I was also sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise in that moment when I believed. Not as a changing feeling, but as a fixed seal of belonging. And as it is said in Acts: “And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” Thus I stand to this day not by my own merit, not by works, but by grace. And this is my testimony. Acts 13:39 (KJV) “And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” ISRAEL AND THE REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Romans – Chapter 9 Romans 9:1–5 (KJV) “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.” I was born in 1957 in the land of Israel. There is nothing unusual about that; people are born all the time, including in the land of Israel. In 1979, in a place called Eilat, I heard for the first time the gospel of salvation: Jesus is the Lord and the Christ, who died on the cross for my sins and rose again for my justification. Thus I was saved in a few simple words. What is unique in the story is not me, but the focus on Israel and the revelation of the mystery. I was given the privilege to hear about the dispensation of the grace of God something not to be taken for granted. To this day Saul of Tarsus asks us: Ephesians 3:1–6 (KJV) “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:” Have you heard of the dispensation of the grace of God? The term “dispensation” is not familiar to many, and is not well liked. People do not like the idea that in order to understand God’s plan one must distinguish between the dispensation of the grace of God and His unique program for Israel. Many prefer a god shaped according to their own thoughts and desires. The dispensation of the grace of God teaches simply that today Jews and Gentiles who believe in the Lord Jesus are baptized into one body without any difference. This is the heart of the matter in the revelation of the mystery. “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not” it may sound strange that the apostle Paul must emphasize this, but he does not do so out of personal weakness or lack of credibility. He presents a hard, sensitive, and controversial truth, especially concerning Israel, the law, and the gospel of the grace of God. Therefore he testifies that he speaks “in Christ” out of calling and spiritual responsibility. The epistle to the Romans, which deals with righteousness by faith, is the foundation of Christian faith. It is the ABC for anyone seeking to understand why the Lord Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again for our justification. In this epistle Paul also speaks about the mystery: Romans 11:25–26 (KJV) “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:” It was indeed a mystery kept with God: that a day would come when He would save Jews and Gentiles without distinction, and the Holy Spirit would baptize them into one body one assembly, the body of Christ. The apostle Paul wrote the epistle after the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob set Israel aside temporarily as a nation, not as individuals. For one born from a Jewish background, this is a difficult truth; but for today this time of grace God saves sinners without distinction. Paul writes that he is willing to be accursed from Christ for his people. This reminds me of my beginning in faith in 1979. Despite many attempts to preach Jesus, most people including my close family remained in unbelief. WHO ARE THE ISRAELITES, AND WHAT IS THEIR DISTINCTIVENESS? ISRAELITES—the sons in the flesh of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who is also called Israel. God chose them from among all peoples to be a light to the Gentiles. Deuteronomy 7:6 (KJV) “For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.” THE ADOPTION—for the first time they were called sons unto God. THE GLORY—God revealed Himself to Israel above the mercy seat. THE COVENANTS—the covenants were made with Israel, not with the other nations. THE GIVING OF THE LAW—the law was given first and foremost to Israel. THE SERVICE OF GOD—the instructions how to serve God and be separated from idolatry. THE PROMISES—including the promise of the Holy Spirit, given first to Israel. THE FATHERS—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and of them, as concerning the flesh, Christ came Jesus, God manifested in the flesh, of the seed of David. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE “ACCURSED FROM CHRIST”? “To be accursed from Christ” means to be cut off from salvation. It does not mean transferring promises from Israel to the church, as certain teachings claim. The reason for the curse is that Israel, as a nation (not as individuals), did not receive Jesus as Messiah. “Stumbled at the stumblingstone”—that is, they stumbled, fell, and failed. Paul does not teach that the promises passed from Israel to the church. On the contrary, he warns against building theology on verses spoken to Israel but taken out of their context. Psalm 118:22 (KJV) “The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.” This is the core issue: to stumble over Christ—and not receive Him. THE ISRAELITES AND THE GENTILES Romans 9:4–5 (KJV) “Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.” The Israelites and the Gentiles is a very important truth also in 2026. On the one hand, the world looks toward the Middle East politically and militarily; on the other hand, as people who believe that Jesus is Lord, we must listen to what is said in the word of God for this time of grace. Paul does not write for nothing: Romans 9:2 (KJV) “That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.” He writes this because a change took place in God’s plan. Many people to this day are not willing to accept the change and continue to preach as if Jews can be saved without the Lord Jesus Christ. They teach this out of apology for the wrong done to Jews throughout history. Others take the next verse out of its context: Romans 11:26 (KJV) “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:” Therefore it is important that we understand which “Israel” the apostle is speaking about, and most of all that we learn to distinguish between God’s promises to Abraham for Israel under the thousand-year kingdom and the time of grace and the assembly of believers, the body of Christ. This is a very difficult subject to explain in 2026, because many people still think their church organization inherited the promises God gave to Israel. In any case, Paul is not sad for nothing. From a religious man persecuting the assembly of believers, he was saved by the grace of God. I also sometimes ask myself why I was saved in 1979 while many people around me could also have believed. The answer is very simple: Psalm 118:22 (KJV) “The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.” Jesus is the rock. We can accept that there is a rock, or we can fall upon it. Israel had, up to a certain stage, an advantage over the Gentiles, as it is said: the adoption; the glory; the covenants; the giving of the law; the service of God; the promises; the fathers; and of them Christ came as concerning the flesh Jesus, God manifested in the flesh, of the seed of David. This was Israel’s spiritual advantage over the other nations not because they were better people, but because of Deuteronomy 7:7–8—choice because of the oath to the fathers: Deuteronomy 7:7–8 (KJV) “The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.” This was Israel’s advantage over the nations, until the Lord Jesus died on the cross to fulfil the law and redeem the believer from the curse of the law. These are very strong matters, especially when many people in 2026 believe that the law of Moses was also given to the Gentiles. It is very difficult for people today, including Jews who believe in Jesus and Gentiles who believe in Jesus, that Christ is the end of the law: Romans 10:4 (KJV) “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” Romans 9:6 (KJV) “Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:” To this day there is a great argument who is a Jew. According to Jewish law a Jew begins with a Jewish mother and so it passes. He is a Jew even if he does not practice Judaism at all religious versus secular. Over the years Jews became a kind of people with language and culture Sephardi or Ashkenazi, etc. Here it speaks about Israel, the nation twelve tribes, etc. Meaning not everyone who was of Abraham’s seed is a son of God, because the inheriting seed is through Isaac. There is a distinction in Scripture between the children of the flesh and the children of the promise. One can compare this to the difference between religion and faith. Many were born or baptized into the Christian religion. That does not make them saved, because salvation is only by the grace of God through faith. It is important to note again and again the meaning of the name Israel instead of Jacob: Genesis 32:28 (KJV) “And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.” Everything returns here to one very important point: faith. Paul emphasizes in verse 6 that the word of God has not fallen because Jewish leaders did not receive Jesus as Messiah, because after all, not all who are of Israel are Israel. Meaning not everyone has the same faith that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had. This is also why the Lord Jesus said: Matthew 3:9 (KJV) “And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.” Many people think everything is automatic, or that because they baptized their children in water, their children were automatically baptized into covenant with God, and the same in the context of circumcision. THE SEED OF ABRAHAM—ISAAC AND JACOB Romans 9:7–8 (KJV) “Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.” The apostle Paul teaches us here, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, a foundational point in God’s plan: not everyone who is of Abraham’s seed according to the flesh is automatically counted as the seed of promise. We must remember this. Today, according to Jewish law, whoever is born to a Jewish mother is considered Jewish. According to the laws of Orthodox and Protestant/Reformed churches, every child or girl/boy baptized in water is automatically baptized into covenant with God. That is how they teach, and therefore they also claim that their church received the promises of Israel. Therefore it is very important that we listen to the words of the Lord Jesus under this dispensation of grace through the apostle Paul regarding this important subject. “In Isaac shall thy seed be called” meaning: the promise does not pass through nature, birth, or law, but through divine choice and promise. Children of the flesh versus children of promise. Ishmael was born before the promise of the seed, connected to a human solution, and is not counted as the seed of promise: Genesis 16:15 (KJV) “And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son’s name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.” The true seed is that which is born out of what God promised, not out of what man produces. Meaning there are religions that teach that infant baptism in water can produce salvation or closeness to God. Another very important point: the promise came before the law. The promise was given to Abraham long before the giving of the law at Sinai. Therefore it is not based on commandments, not dependent on keeping law, and cannot be annulled by failure under the law: Genesis 12:3 (KJV) “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” Galatians 3:16–18 (KJV) “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.” The promise to Abraham speaks of one, not many, as many think. The One is the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore we speak about the difference between God’s promises to Abraham through Christ Jesus for Israel and God’s promises to Abraham in Christ Jesus for the assembly of believers, the body of Christ meaning righteousness by faith alone. God started with a promise, not with law. The law came later and does not cancel the promise. Therefore: the children of promise come before the children of the flesh, and this is the basis for understanding Israel, the Messiah, and the dispensation of the grace of God. Romans 9:9–11 (KJV) “For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son. And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)” The seed of Abraham under the dispensation of the grace of God is a very important subject. The religious Jew speaks about circumcision. The religious Christian speaks about infant baptism, which allegedly came instead of circumcision. The apostle Paul speaks about the purpose of God according to election, not works. God’s plan to save people by His grace through the Lord Jesus Christ is not cancelled just because Israel repeatedly rejected the testimony of the twelve apostles concerning the kingdom of heaven on earth. The reason is because God’s plan is not based on the works of men, but on the promise of God given long before. That is the principle here. “but of him that calleth” everything rests on the will of God, His plan, and His calling. Romans 8:28–30 (KJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” The calling comes through the gospel (not through law or works): Romans 10:14–17 (KJV) “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Meaning people must hear the gospel of their salvation. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob calls people today by hearing the gospel. The calling is not mystical; it is not connected to some church, but is spoken in the word of God as the Lord Jesus committed it to the apostle Paul. The calling is a calling of grace, not works: 2 Timothy 1:9 (KJV) “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,” The calling is a calling of faith in Christ: Romans 9:24 (KJV) “Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?” Today the calling is open to Jews and Gentiles alike, and the response to it is faith, not natural belonging. Romans 10:8–17 (KJV) “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV) “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 1:9 (KJV) “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” God calls us to fellowship with the Lord Jesus, not to membership in one religious organization or another. The calling concerns far more than the believer’s salvation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” The concept of a new creature under the dispensation of the grace of God speaks of a new identity in Christ. Man is now defined: not by his past Christian, Jew, Muslim, etc. not by the flesh water baptism, circumcision, etc. but by what God has done for him in Christ in His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. Romans 9:12–13 (KJV) “It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.” Paul is not speaking here about personal preference or emotion in God, but about a divine principle in the plan of salvation not according to the flesh. Everything stands on the grace of God, not on natural advantage or birthright. Jacob was chosen not because of his merits, and Esau was not rejected because of wickedness; it speaks here about calling and purpose—“loved / hated”—“loved” = chosen to carry the promise; “hated” = not chosen for this line for this role. Jacob and Esau represent here, one Israel and the other the nations. Not everyone has the same role in God’s plan, but in the end all are measured by faith. Under the dispensation of the grace of God the principle is that the flesh does not determine, but grace and faith are the basis. “Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated”—this is not a story of personal preference but of a divine plan built on promise, grace, and faith, not on the flesh. In one sentence: God chose the line of promise, built on one Seed—the Lord Jesus Christ—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and as Paul says: 2 Timothy 2:8 (KJV) “Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:” Romans 15:8–12 (KJV) “Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people. And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.” IS THERE UNRIGHTEOUSNESS WITH GOD? Romans 9:14–21 (KJV) “What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?” If God chooses according to His will, some people think it is not fair. This is not about choosing which individuals will receive the gift of eternal life and which will not. Exodus 33:19 (KJV) “And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” This verse was spoken after the sin of the golden calf, when Israel was not worthy of grace. From this verse we learn that the grace of God and His mercies are sovereign and not based on human response. This is the verse Paul explicitly quotes in Romans 9:15 to show that there is no unrighteousness with God, but that salvation rests on mercy, not works. “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy” meaning our will to serve God or our running to do something for Him cannot bring salvation. It is in the hand of God who shows mercy He, in His great mercies, saved us: Ephesians 2:4–5 (KJV) “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)” Now let us speak a little about Pharaoh: Exodus 9:16 (KJV) “And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.” The verse was spoken to Pharaoh in the midst of the plagues of Egypt, and it emphasizes: God uses Pharaoh’s evil so that His power would be revealed, and His greatness would be known in all the earth. God did not create Pharaoh like that, but used him so that the riches of His grace for Israel would be known to all. Everything stands on mercy, not works. Paul quotes Exodus 9:16 in Romans 9:17 to show that God is sovereign and His promise for Israel stands even against human resistance as in the case of Pharaoh. Romans 9:24 (KJV) “Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?” The epistle to the Romans was written for Jews and Gentiles in one body, for the assembly, the body of Christ. Here we come to the more important part in chapter 9: Romans 9:22–25 (KJV) “What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.” The sovereignty of God allows Him to endure the wrath of men as in Pharaoh’s case so that His will would be fulfilled. God did not replace Israel with the Gentiles. God, in the riches of His grace, used Satan’s blindness and calls today Jews and Gentiles into one body. 1 Corinthians 1:23–24 (KJV) “But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:27–31 (KJV) “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” Here too God used the evil of the rulers of this world—those who thought that if they crucified the Lord Jesus, God’s plan would not be fulfilled. But God, in His great grace and love, saves us on the basis that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. 1 Corinthians 2:7–9 (KJV) “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” Romans 9:24 (KJV) “Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?” These are not church people who were baptized in water. These are Jews and Gentiles who received Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and the Holy Spirit baptized them into unity with Christ: 1 Corinthians 12:13 (KJV) “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” “NOT MY PEOPLE” Romans 15:4 (KJV) “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Romans 9:25–26 (KJV) “As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.” “Not my people” and “not beloved” speak of a time when there was a separation between Israel and God, but not a rejection forever. Every time the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob restores Israel, it is not because of their status, but because of His faithfulness and the promise to the fathers. (Hosea 2:23; Hosea 1:10) Meaning that if at one time God chooses to show His wrath and at another time the riches of His grace, it is all based on His sovereignty and His plan to save people, because if everything depended on men, we would have no hope. Romans 9:27–29 (KJV) “Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.” The meaning of the verse is that quantity does not determine anything with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, even if Israel be as the sand of the sea. The existence of the remnant is the central fact, not the size of the nation. God does not save people according to quantity or their right in the flesh. By God’s sovereignty He always saves people through His grace and on the basis of their faith. Most of the nation rejected the gospel of the twelve apostles about Jesus Christ. Most of the nation rejected the testimony of the apostle Paul about the atoning death of Jesus on the cross. If it were not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and His plan to save mankind, we would have been almost as Sodom and like unto Gomorrah—meaning without hope. Thanks to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the Lord Jesus, the apostle Paul received the gospel of the grace of God, by which Jews and Gentiles can be saved. No one takes the place of the other, because it speaks of a body of believers whose existence was kept secret until it was revealed to the apostle Paul. This is also the testimony the apostle Paul gave to the Jews in the synagogue: Acts 13:38–39 (KJV) “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” THE RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH IS OF FAITH Romans 9:30–33 (KJV) “What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Isaiah 28:16 (KJV) “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.” The Gentiles—nations of the world: Ephesians 2:12 (KJV) “That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:” Why did Israel, with all its spiritual advantages, fail spiritually, while the Gentiles attained righteousness without even seeking it? “The Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness… even the righteousness which is of faith.” The Gentiles did not seek righteousness through law, covenants, or works. They received righteousness as a gift of grace, by faith alone. This is not about moral superiority of Gentiles, but simple reception of the gospel of the grace of God. The law of Moses was not evil. The problem was using the law as a means to obtain righteousness. Israel followed after the law of righteousness in the power of the flesh religious zeal, etc. “Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law.” Israel sought righteousness as wages, not as a gift, not as the fruit of faith. “For they stumbled at that stumblingstone… and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Christ Himself is the stumblingstone—not because He is a stumblingstone in Himself, but because He requires faith alone. To the believer, He is a sure foundation; to the one who seeks to justify himself, He is an offence. The Gentiles were saved not because they sought, but because they believed. Israel failed not because it sought, but because it sought in the wrong way. The same stone saves the believer and causes the self-trusting to stumble. This is the move from law to grace in God’s present dispensation.

THE EARLY DAYS OF PAUL'S MINISTRY by Dov Avnon The early days of Paul's ministry (The key to understanding the Dispensation of Grace) Dear reader! I use the term 'The early days of Paul's ministry' and not, as many say, 'Paul's early ministry,' because the Lord Jesus Christ gave the apostle Paul one ministry and not two. Regarding the fall of the nation of Israel, or perhaps better said, Israel's partial blindness, it occurred shortly before Paul was saved and not throughout the entire book of Acts, as many still teach. The fall of Israel as a nation is the reason that Christ from heaven saved Paul and gave him the dispensation of grace. If you understand this part, it will be much easier to comprehend that all the truths/teachings written in Paul's letters, from Romans to Philemon, are written to and about the Church, which is His body. Rightly dividing the word of truth is not about drawing a line in Paul's letters between different groups of believers or bodies of believers so it appears as though Paul had two ministries. 2 Timothy 2:15 is about studying—presenting yourself so God can approve what you are doing or saying under grace. It is about doing things for God without the need to be ashamed. Rightly dividing the word of truth goes back to 2 Timothy 2:1: '...be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.' 2 Timothy 2:2: 'And the things that thou hast heard of me.' Yes, it goes back to one important truth: to make as many as we can see the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery that Christ from heaven gave to the apostle Paul. 25Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; 26Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:29Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. Jews and Gentiles in one body By Dov Avnon You will find in a few places in Paul's letters to the Churches the doctrine about Jews and Gentiles in one body. After knowing the doctrine of salvation and the assurance of the believers in Christ, the position of Jews and Gentiles under the dispensation of grace is a very important doctrine that I am afraid many Bible teachers no longer teach. 11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; Paul had to remind the believers in his letter to the Ephesians of a very important truth that he was teaching the churches already in his first letter. In the time past, before the beginning of the dispensation of Grace, the Gentiles could know the real God only through Israel. But now it is different. This change in God's dealing with the Gentiles is already mentioned in Paul's letter to the Galatians, which was Paul's first letter to the Churches. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Gal 3 Now, after the beginning of the dispensation of Grace, there has been a great change in God's dealing with the Gentiles. They are now Children of God only by faith and put on Christ in the same way that a Jew has to do. 1 Cor. 12:13. It is now under this new dispensation that all those who are in Christ are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Gal 3 Paul became an apostle of a new dispensation because God temporarily set Israel aside as a nation. So now, any Jew who trusts Christ as their Savior becomes a member of the same body as any Gentile who does the same. This is because God is now dealing with sinners on an individual basis and not with nations based on the Old Testament covenants. So Paul asks the churches, mostly made up of sinners from the nations, to remember a few important things that it seems many have already forgotten by 2025 Paul is talking here about Gentiles in the flesh, just as in other places he spoke much about Jews in the flesh. For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh: 2:29 But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Rom 2 Sinners from the nations = Gentiles, or the sinner Jew = the nation Israel, are both under what Paul called the dispensation of grace: the mystery among the Gentiles. 25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; 26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Col. 2 When Paul said that he became a minister and that God gave him the dispensation of Grace, it was for both Gentiles and Jews who trusted Christ as their Savior. In order to understand it, it is important to take a look at the book of Acts. When Christ was on earth, He did not come to teach the Gentiles (John 7:35) but to the lost sheep of Israel. When Peter, on the day of Pentecost, talked about repentance (Acts 2:37-38), it was to the nation of Israel with some proselytes (Acts 2:10). Then we come to Peter, James, and John, the apostles from Jerusalem with the gospel to the circumcision. They were the first to talk to a Gentile but just for a while. ACTS 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. ACTS 11:1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. ACTS 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. This repentance of the Gentiles is NOT part of the dispensation of Grace that Christ gave to Paul. It is not a part of what Paul said: the mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you - this will come soon but not yet. 11:19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. 11:20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. Acts 11 From reading the above verses, we learn that Peter and the other brethren from Judea had the commission to go only to the Jews. Some went also to the Gentiles, but let’s not forget they did not have any gospel to them and could only tell them what Christ gave them for the Jews. It is Paul who, for the first time, received the mystery among the Gentiles. Paul, Jews, Gentiles, and the synagogue ACTS 13:42-48 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you. For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles – ISAIAH 42:6, 60:2 – From reading the words of Isaiah, we learn that the nation of Israel was chosen among the other nations to be a light to the Gentiles through the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. But they rejected this purpose and persecuted those who talked about it to the nation. 1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. Acts. You see it is with Paul for the first time that salvation goes to the Gentiles as part of a new dispensation. ACTS 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord. ACTS 21:19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry. ACTS 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. 26:21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. 26:22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: 26:23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. Some, after reading the words 'repent and turn to God,' started to build their own doctrine as if Paul, like Peter at Pentecost, was teaching repentance and baptism as part of the earthly kingdom. I suggest anyone who understands the spirit of Paul's letters and his gospel to read these verses: 1 THESSALONIANS 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 2 TIMOTHY 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. TITUS 1:14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Now, after Christ saved Paul, the Gentiles did not have to go to the synagogue, as some did, in order to hear something about the living God of Israel. Now they can get it directly by listening to Paul's gospel. There is a great difference between the synagogue, the temple, or the tabernacle. All are supposed to be appointed meeting places with God. But for Israel, God appointed only one place where He would meet them. 22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel. Exodus 25 The temple in Jerusalem in Paul's days or the synagogue of the Jewish religion was not that meeting place. When Paul went first to the synagogue of the Jews, it was not to meet the leaders of the Jewish nation and to speak with them about the return of Christ to earth with His kingdom. (See the difference with John 3:1-9). There were, in Paul's days, many synagogues around. It was the meeting place, till today, of the Jewish religion after the destruction of the first temple. The synagogue in Paul's days was the only place where people read God's word: 21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. Acts 15 It is in the synagogue of the Jews and not in the Greek temple that we find people reading from God's word. Sometimes when I am listening to some of the arguments that brethren are using in order to promote their two bodies or two group theologies, I am amazed at how ignorant people can be when it comes to some simple truths about the place of the synagogues during the early days of Paul's ministry. When we take the verses about Paul visiting the synagogues during the early days of his ministry, we get a global picture of what he was preaching. However, it is from his letters to the Churches of the dispensation of God’s grace that we learn what Christ wants us to make all men see. ACTS 9:20 ….preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. ACTS 13: …preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews 13:14 …..went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. 13:15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, [Ye] men [and] brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. 13:38 …. And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. So again – the synagogue of the Jews is not the appointed place by God to meet the leaders of Israel. It is the prayer house of the Jewish religion. Paul did not go there to perform any kingdom miracles or to tell them about the return of Christ to earth with His kingdom and that they should repent and be baptized. It is more important to see what Paul said to the people when he was visiting Jerusalem. 6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. Acts 23:6 Nothing about the earthly kingdom or the promises of the return of Christ to earth but only: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome. Acts 23 And this is what Paul did later as he wrote to us in the letter to the Churches of the dispensation of grace: 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification Rom. 4 at that time ye were without Christ Now after we understand more about terms like synagogues and Gentiles during the early days of Paul's ministry, let's see what he is going to remind the Gentiles in the body of Christ: 12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: Gentiles: 1- without Christ, 2- being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, 3- and strangers from the covenants of promise, 4- having no hope, 5- and without God in the world: Jews/Israel: 1- Christ came first to Israel, 2- Israel the chosen nation, 3- God made the covenants with the fathers of Israel, 4- Israel had the hope of the resurrection. It was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Paul asks members of all time to remember how it used to be before the dispensation of grace started. I remember my first years in the Netherlands in 1980. When I told people that I am from Israel and saved through the blood of Christ, some told me that they thank God for Israel because through them they received the Gospel. This was for me a good opportunity to tell those people that it was the opposite. Israel as a nation rejects Christ. It is because of the dispensation of grace that Christ gave to Paul that the Gentiles have an open door to be saved. Paul and but now 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. ROMANS 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; ROMANS 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. ROMANS 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith. Paul wants us to remember the difference: how it used to be and how it is now under the dispensation of Grace. The point is that Christ on the Cross accomplished everything for us, but it was not known until Christ himself revealed it to Paul. Peter and but now 1 PETER 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God. 1 PETER 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. When we are going through the words of Christ in Ephesians 2:13, it is important to know the difference between the NOW of Paul, which represents the present days of the dispensation of grace, and the NOW of Peter, James, and John, the apostles from Jerusalem, which refers to the future days after the end of the dispensation of grace. He is our peace: 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace. We can find much ignorance regarding what Paul wrote afterwards to the Churches. The reason for this carnal ignorance is not because it is not written or because Christ was not clear when he gave Paul the dispensation of grace. It is because you and I, in 2025, are living in a time when Satan has already introduced to the world one of his false teachings: dividing Paul's ministry into different bodies or groups and, as a result, rejecting some of his letters as if they were not written to the body of Christ. This is false teaching. It is false because, as a result, people are learning to reject the ordinances that Christ gave to Paul for the Church. 19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 1 Cor 11 It is about the teaching or some parts of it and not about the people. There is no doubt in my mind that people like Ethelbert William Bullinger or Charles Henry Welch were great Bible teachers. Like there is no doubt that Johannes Calvijn or John Nelson Darby were great Bible teachers. Or Adolph Ernst Knoch. All of them, each one in his time, wrote many books and gave many Bible studies and have many followers even till our days. God uses people to spread His gospel like Paul says: 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Tim. 2 No one is free from errors in their teaching, but some errors are not just a mistake but a part of a complex of wrong teaching that went into the world. When I use the term false, I am talking only about those issues that are contrary to what Christ gave to the apostle Paul under the gospel of God’s grace.

Fast Facts About Angels By Thomas Bruscha "Angel" means: Messenger: Angels are the servants of the Lord doing service to God - Hebrews 1:7,14. They have been used to deliver messages to people - Genesis 19:15. Holy Angels carry out God's will on earth or heaven - Genesis 28:12. They report to God and give account - Job 1:6; 2:1. They praise and worship God - Psalms 148:2; Revelation 5:11,12. They comprise God's army - the "Heavenly Host" - Daniel 8:10. Angels are called: "Sons of God" - Job 1:6; 2:1 "Heavenly Host" - Luke 2:13 "Holy Ones" or "Holy Angels" - Daniel 4:7; Matthew 25:31 "Watchers" - Daniel 4:17 Their Being: Angels are celestial (Heavenly) beings - I Corinthians 15:40. They are just one kind of race of many heavenly beings such as: Seraphim - who according to Isaiah 6:2-7 have six wings and praise God's holiness. Cherubim - who according to Ezekiel 10:1-15 have four wings and surround God's glory. The Four Beasts - of Revelation 4:6-8 who may or may not be one of the above; these also have six wings. There are many differing descriptions of demonic type beings - Zechariah 5:5-9. This is the only mention of winged women in the Bible and remember it's demonic! There are also heavenly animals mentioned in scripture such as horses - Revelation 19:11 Within the Angels are Ranks of Authority: Archangel (meaning: "Chief") As is "Michael" among the Holy Angels - I Thessalonians 4:16; Jude 9 And "Beelzebub" prince among the devils - Matthew 12:24. Principalities - As above, an office held by a Prince, Chief among others - Ephesians 1:21. Thrones - An office held by one who would be a regional King - Colossians 1:16. Powers - An office held by one having legal jurisdiction - Ephesians 1:21. Might - An enforcer; as in military or police or judge - Ephesians 1:21. Dominions - Assigned governmental authority over a territory - Ephesians 1:21. These same offices of varying authority exist on the earth, visible to us as Kings or Presidents and Legislators and Governors and Judges and Police. The same exists in the heavens, invisible to us but just as real - Colossians 1:16,16. Heavenly counterparts to earth are warring the heavens - Daniel 10:12, 13,20,21. How Angels Appear: They are "Spirits" - Hebrews 1:7. They are not made of the earth as we are - I Corinthians 15:48. They are "Invisible" - Colossians 1:16, II Kings 6:17. They are spoken of as "Men"; never as women or as children - Mark 16:5; Daniel 9:21. They however, are not necessarily sexless: As men, fallen angels have procreated with "the daughters of men" - Genesis 6:1-4. They were and are created by God to be celibate: God did not create them to marry nor to be given in marriage - Matthew 22:30 They are "Wingless" i.e.: the Bible never says they have wings. So we assume they don't and there is no reason to assume otherwise. They are powerful; exceeding man in strength and ability - Psalms 103:20; II Peter 2:11. They possess the ability to appear as "ordinary men" - Hebrews 13:2. They sometimes appear as men and yet there is something that distinguishes them as Angels - Genesis 18:1-3...19:1. Perhaps they appeared larger than normal men - Genesis 6:4; Revelation 21:17. They also have the ability to appear as "supernatural men" with radiant glory - Luke 24:4. They are "Created" beings - not born - as is said of the Cherub Lucifer - Ezekiel 28:15. They were created in Genesis 1:1 because they viewed the rest of creation - Job 38:6,7. Because they are Spirit Beings they do not and cannot physically die - Luke 20:36. This is why God created hell - Matthew 25:41 Because they are Spirit Beings they never age. This is seen by the fact that the angel Gabriel appeared to Daniel - Daniel 8:16 then approximately 500 years later he appears unaged to Mary - Luke 1:19,26,26. As Spirit Beings they do not take up space: In Mark 5:9 there were a "Legion"=6,000+ in one man. They are always viewing what happens on the earth - Daniel 4:17; I Corinthians 4:9. They have been wondering, trying to figure out the prophetic plan of salvation God promised mankind in the earth - I Peter 1:12. There is much joy among the Angels; over God's victories - Luke 15:10; Revelation 12:12. Their estate is Heaven - they are called "The Angels of Heaven" - Matthew 24:36 And yet some of them left - Jude 6 They are associated with the stars - Revelation 1:20; 9:1. Most likely they live on and rule territorially within the stars - Amos 5:26. They are not to be worshipped! - Revelation 22:8,9. They are not to be idolized! - Exodus 20:4,5; Acts 7:43. They are not to be prayed to! - II Samuel 24:17. Prayer in scripture is always directed to God - Matthew 6:6; Luke 11:2. They are not to be looked to for guidance! - Isaiah 47:13. God's Holy Spirit through His written Word leads and guides us - Ephesians 5:18. They are not sent, nor are we to receive a gospel message from Angels today! - Galatians 1:8. Our worship, our obedience, our trust and dependence which we owe to God aloone, is the desire of Satan and his Angels and is therefore the source and the reason behind all idolatry - Isaiah 14:12-14 Assignments of the Angels: They have been sent from God to bring messages to certain people - Daniel 9:20-23. Since Jesus Christ is called "The Word of God" - John 1:1; there were times in the Old Testament when He appeared himself as "The Angel of the Lord" - Exodus 3:2. Angels were also sent to assist certain people - Acts 12:7-10. They were sent to protect certain people at particular times - II Kings 6:15-18. They were also sent to inflict punishment at other times - I Chronicles 21:16. Angels were assigned to Nations - Daniel 12:1. Some were assigned to Children - Matthew 18:10. Angels will be assigned to Churches - Revelation 1:20; 2:8,12,18; 3:1,7,14. Angels are seen throughout the Book of Revelation executing God's wrath - Rev. 15:1. They will be used at the second coming of Jesus Christ to gather Israel back to their promised land - Matthew 24:31. The references to time in the above statements, alluding to the past and future days, such as "were" or "have been" and "will be" are deliberate. Since the Children of Israel were God's people and the heirs of Salvation; angelic ministry is especially associated with that Nation and God's Kingdom blessings promised to them upon this earth. Keep this point in mind as we consider this final question: Do Members of the "Body of Christ" have Guardian Angels? Paul's epistles are written to the "Body of Christ" which comprises all believers through the "Gospel of the Grace of God" (Jew or Gentile) from the beginning of his special ministry until a future day in which the "Body" (whether asleep in the grave or alive) will be called up into the air to meet our Lord Jesus Christ in the heavens. (Acts 20:24; I Corinthians 12:27; I Timothy 1:12-16; I Thessalonians 4:13-18.) This church called "The Body of Christ" is a "New Creature" distinct from God's people of Israel who were called "An Holy Nation." The church which is Christ's Body was brought into being for God's secret purpose called "The Mystery" - "Which He kept hid from ages and generations but now is made known..." as Paul writes; "To the intent that now unto the principalities and power in the heavenly places might be made known by the church the manifold witness of God." (Ephesians 1:22,23; II Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 6:15; I Peter 2:9; Ephesians 3:1-10) In other words, God's purpose in saving us today in this "the dispensation of the grace of God" is for the prpose of teaching the angels in heaven, things that even they never knew concerning the many sides of God's wisdom. Most importantly it teaches the Angels how God's wisdom in the Cross has defeated Satan and openly displays Satan's ignorance as God reveals the triumph of His wisdom and powever over him. (I Corinthians 2:7-9; Ephesians 1:8; Colossians 2:13-15) In God's grace to us, He is using us to teach the Angels, and He will display us in the Heavens forever to demonstrate to the Angels "the riches of His kindness in His grace toward us" - Ephesians 2:4-7. Since God's program for us involves teaching the Angels, and since this truth exposes the defeat, failure and doom of the devil and his angels, this truth and those who know it are in a spiritual warfare with "spiritual wickedness in high places" - Ephesians 6:10-12. The armor God has given us is not "guardian Angels," but is the "truth," "righteousness," "peace," "faith" and "hope" found in our position in Christ. Furthermore, II Corinthians 10:4 tells us that the "weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds." They are not carnal (fleshly), but spiritual, for we do not fight against flesh and blood. Our weapon is spiritual. It is the Word of God. Therefore Jesus Christ through Paul, his Apostle to us, warns us over and over not to be deceived; nor lured into the worship of Angels; nor to be spoiled of our rewards through Angels appearing to teach us another gospel or any other doctrine not found in Paul's epistles for us. (Colossians 2:18; Galatians 1:8; II Corinthians 11:13-15; I Timothy 4:1,2) Interestingly, Colossians 2:18 implies that those who would have you believe a message from an Angel or to adore the Angels in worship, they have never even seen an Angel, though they may testify that they have seen an Angel. To the contrary, the Apostle Paul says much about Angels observing, listening and learning of God's grace from us: "We are made spectacles to the Angels..." - I Corinthians 4:9. "We shall judge the Angels" - I Corinthians 6:3. We ought to obey the authority God has established "because of the Angels" - (perhaps because they are watching our obedience) - I Corinthians 11:10. Our position "in Christ in heavenly places" is a show of the kindness and grace of God to the Angels who never had seen such grace - Ephesians 2:4-7. And it was God's intent in forming the Body of Christ to teach the Angelic Host about His "manifold wisdom" - Ephesians 3:10. Paul acknowledges that his words are heard before "the Elect Angels" - I Timothy 5:21. Today, we have the privilege and the ministry of using "the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God" (particularly "the Word of His grace" to us;) and by using it we can assist God in "spoiling principalities and powers" by the preaching of the Cross and thereby, through faith, save those (Jews or Gentiles) who were part of the kingdom of Satan - "the power of darkness" and "translate them into the Kingdom of God's dear Son." (Ephesians 6:17; Acts 20:32; Colossians 2:15; Ephesians 2:8,9; Colossians 1:12-14) As God's purpose for Israel centers around His kingdom in the earth, so God's purpose for us - the Body of Christ centers around His kingdom in the heavens. Angels were used to help Israel by informing them and protecting them as a nation, in fulfillment of God's intent for the earth. However, today God is using the church which is His Body to help the Angels by informing them and warring against the spiritual wickedness in high places in fulfillment of God's intent for the heavens. The more one understands the uniqueness of the age in which we live and how it is that we battle in a spiritual warfare for the heavenly places the more insight is gained as to the ministry of Angels today. We the Body of Christ are teaching and warring in their behalf in the heavenly places. We accomplish unseen victories as we "stand fast in the Lord and in the power of His might" using as the weapons of our warfare "the sword of the Spirit" and "praying always" for "boldness" to proclaim "the mystery of the gospel." From that point of view, why would we have guardian Angels? Rather than Angels helping us, God has given unto us something much more comforting and powerful. He has given to us His Holy Spirit who strengthens us with "power" and "might in the inner man" and "seals" us as God's possession unto the day of our redemption; all to His glory. (Ephesians 3:14-21; Ephesians 1:13,14) Instead of protecting us from all the evils that may befall us in life we are instructed to be "filled with the Spirit" and to learn that God's grace is sufficient. In fact we begin to understand that in our weakness God is made strong in us so that while we may suffer need, go hungry, be afflicted with pain, or suffer loss; we "can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth us!" What a testimony this is to the power of God's grace in us, both unto man and the Angels. (Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:22,23; II Corinthians 12:7-10; Philippians 4:11-13) There is an amazing truth which can only be received by faith. We are told in scripture that our afflictions in this life are working for us. As we walk by faith, motivated by grace, strengthened by God's Spirit, guided by His Word through all the difficulties of life we will be rewarded "a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." If guardian Angels prevented such afflictions, they would be working against you, robbing you of rewards, and the glory God receives through His working in your life. 13 וַאֲשֶׁר גַּם־אַתֶּם שְׁתוּלִים בּוֹ אַחֲרֵי שָׁמְעֲכֶם דְּבַר הָאֱמֶת אֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַת יְשׁוּעַתְכֶם וַאֲשֶׁר בּוֹ כְּשֶׁהֶאֱמַנְתֶּם גַּם־נֶחְתַּמְתֶּם בְּרוּחַ הַהַבְטָחָה רוּחַ "I like to write about the Bible, about God's word. Today, I want to talk to you about 'water baptism.' I am not going to argue about whether you should participate in any religious ritual or not because I am not concerned with what millions are doing. I care more about letting people know about the Gospel of God's grace that Christ from heaven gave to the apostle Paul." 1 Corinthians 1:17 “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” Whether we will go through the ritual of water baptism or not, we cannot change the truth that Christ did not send Paul to baptize. Would Paul be able to be a member of the "Baptist or reform organizations" of our days? Maybe yes. Paul himself was baptized in water and he baptized others. Acts 9:18 “And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.” 1 Corinthians 1:16 “And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. I have been living in the Netherlands for the last 42 years, a lifetime. I will soon be 67 and have spent most of my life in the Netherlands. Why? Maybe because of the easy life. However, I have used my time here very well to preach the Gospel of God's grace. No, we do not have large church meetings. After I started teaching the truth of women's head covering for this dispensation of grace in 2009, based on 1 Corinthians 11:1-16, many left. No, they did not leave the gospel of God's grace. They just chose not to follow Paul in this matter. Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. I wanted to talk to you about water baptism, the ritual, and standing for the truth of "one baptism" as mentioned in Ephesians 4:5 - "One Lord, one faith, one baptism." There is a significant difference between knowing the truth, agreeing with any truth, or standing for it. Standing for the truth is far from easy in our days. I was 22 years old with a Jewish background in the land of Israel when I stood for the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Years later, when I learned about the dispensation of Grace and the gospel of God's grace, I took a stand for this truth once again. I married a woman whom I knew would stand with me for God's truth. It was not easy, but we have been together for 42 years. I am writing these words not because I care to argue about what others teach or believe. We do not engage in such discussions in the Netherlands. I have spent my life presenting the truth of the gospel to those who are willing to listen. Nowadays, most people use the internet to follow my video preaching. They choose not to visit the fellowship for various reasons, such as distance or not standing for the truth. There is a lady whom I know. She was a child when I spoke with her parents or mother about the gospel of God's grace. She lives not far away and follows the online studies, if I am not mistaken, she also visits a large local charismatic church. She knows the truth, but she does not stand for it as I would. Some try to justify it by saying “but I talk about it with other members etc” "Water baptism" is not just water; it has become a religious system. Compromising with the truth does not always happen because you don't believe it. It is often because people want to be part of the majority and avoid persecution. Galatians 6:12 “As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.” Many are teaching salvation by grace alone. Many will say that Paul is the apostle to the gentiles. It does not say that the same “many” are willing to stand with Paul for the truth of one baptism see Romans 6:1-11. Last Sunday, I learned new things. We had a visitor, an old member whom I met when he was 25 years old. Now he is a grandfather. 1 Corinthians 12:27 “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular .” We are in one body with everyone who is saved and has been baptized by the one spirit 1 corinthians 12:13. members in particular will be when the church comes together. 1 Corinthians 11:20 “When ye come together therefore into one place, - today with many using only the internet to learn about God's word. Not many know what is “” members in particular”. I did not see this brother for some years. They left for some reason but sometimes he still followed the teaching through the internet. His wife is joining another church that is not teaching the gospel of God's Grace as I do. Some people will say “I want to have fellowship with fellow believers” Others say “When it is Sunday I want to join a church service”. Sometimes when you are living In a small community this is the place where you will meet other members of the same body. Some need say that they need social contact. We spoke about our children his children, they learned in the past about the Gospel of God's grace in Sunday school. He left the fellowship in 2008. During our conversation, this brother mentioned his children. He said, "My daughter is more focused on the world." In our place, when someone is not interested in a spiritual life with Christ, we say they are more worldly. Yes, even those who grew up with sound doctrine can later choose not to read the bible, have a fellowship, or simply walk in the spirit. Most people care only if they are saved. In our small village, some will say “I am happy that I baptized my child as a baby” or “ I know he is a member of the covenant” The conversation was mainly about his son. They live in a small Dutch reform town with about 20 churches. Although it used to be a village, with families having 5-10 children, it has grown into a town. Some churches have more than 1000 people on Sunday mornings. Years ago, I led their Bible study group, but it was challenging for them economically to stand for the truth, especially if they had a small business. People were hesitant to buy from them once they knew they no longer part of the Dutch reform theology. Sometimes even the preacher would support this attitude. Do not buy from those who are not coming to our church building. In some villages with Roman Catholic and Protestant populations, it was common to have two bakeries, each serving a different group of people based on their religious affiliation. Many young people want to get married, have children, and build their homes. There are not many who are into the teaching about the dispensation of grace. Some have found their beloved ones, who may be non-believers or come from different religious backgrounds. In my life, I have witnessed people entering and leaving relationships. I have seen marriages end in divorce because one partner wanted to stand for the truth while the other not. Being married to an unbeliever is a different story. 1 Corinthians 7:2 “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” Read chapter 7 When your partner is an unbeliever, it can be challenging or even impossible to raise your children in the ways of the Lord. It may also be difficult to maintain a home fellowship like we had all those years. Romans 16:5 “Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.” I began writing about "water baptism" not because of the water itself, but because of the principle of standing for what you believe in. Are you willing to stand for anything in your life? Our lives are built on those who have stood for the truth in the past. Imagine how different my life would be if Brother C.R. Stam had not stood for the truth of the gospel and if I had not known https://bereanbiblesociety.org/ this just a sample. Last Sunday we had visitors at our small home fellowship. Old fellow brethren that I have known for more than 30 years. They were young people when I met them and told them about the gospel of God’s grace. Now they are fathers and grandfathers. Like always, we ask first about the children. Like in every family, some will continue in faith, some not. Some will stand for the truth of the gospel, some not. Last Sunday I learned new facts. While talking about the children, some of them choose to marry an unbeliever, and some of them get married to a person from another church organization. We know that today people get divorced, even saved people, so I do not want to say that just getting married to a saved person gives any advantage. You will always need to work on your marriage and walk in the spirit as much as possible. 21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Ephesians Chapter 5 So here we are again. A young man or woman who understands that Christ gave Paul the dispensation of grace gets married to a member of the Dutch Reformed Church. They stand for infant baptism, and if you want to participate in the Lord's Supper, you have to be a church member. This involves going through the church confession procedure. The Dutch Reformed Churches confess Infant Baptism. It is not just about water. It is a large system. If you live in a small village with many Dutch Reformed churches and you want to be part of the majority, you need to join this church. You don't need to do anything if you choose to stand for the truth, but in many situations today, young people just don't want to be alone. There are hardly any so-called grace churches today, and not many people will start a church at home like it used to be. They are in love with someone, and this is what matters to them. I was surprised to hear that those children who grew up in the grace teaching and now have a Dutch Reformed partner. Some of them became a church member to please the wife or the man or for the future of the children in this village. In order to be member of those churches and if you was not baptized as a child. You will need to go through Dutch reform adult water baptism ceremony. Like I said before, I don't care what others are doing. It is just sad to hear how far people can go. 1 Corinthians 1:17 “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” No effect - infant baptism sounds reasonable for millions of people. It is a rigid religious system. It is not easy for people to leave their religious system because in many cases, it means having conflicts with their natural family. "Why Does It Take So Long to Explain Infant Baptism?" - "I Will Be A God To You And To Your Children" helps many to understand and accept infant baptism. In reality, the biblical and Reformed view on infant baptism can differ. But who really cares in our days about God's words to the apostle Paul? "God promised to be a God to believers and to their children. He gave a sign to Abraham to illustrate that promise, and he repeated the promise in the New Testament and gave a new sign to illustrate that promise." This is a brief explanation that millions in the world are following. I know all about it because of my Jewish background. I still remember the first days in 1979 after I heard about the Lord Jesus Christ. I was so happy to go home and tell my parents the good news in my life. For them, it was a sad day. Philippians Chapter 3 2Beware of dogs, …. 3For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, no confidence in the flesh. 4…. have confidence in the flesh….. Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 7But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; It is not easy to criticize others. Most people on earth never hear the truth of the gospel or are not willing to follow it. I thank the Lord today that I was able to build my life with the truth of the Gospel. I thank the Lord today that I was able to be an instrument in His hand and to share with people the greatness of the Gospel of God's grace under the dispensation of grace. 1 Corinthians 1:17 “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” To all those who know the truth and for some reason starting to compromise just remember that those “spiritual wickedness in high places” will do anything to prevent you from telling others the truth of the gospel of God’s grace. 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places . Ephesians 6:10
